Man Texts about Dangers of Texting and Driving and then Drives Off a Cliff Right After

If you’re looking for a story that will warn you not to text and drive, you need look no further than here.  A college student in Texas sent a text to a friend stating, “I need to quit texting, because I could die in a car accident.”  Right after sending that ominous message, the young man drove off a cliff

Chance Bothe miraculously survived the plummet, but his truck was totaled in the process and he is physically injured in ways he never would have imagined.  He also instantly became the poster child for why we all need to be careful when texting.   Most states tell us that it’s illegal, but it’s not until we’re in a horrible accident that we realize that it’s a serious problem.  Teenagers are the worst at it, but adults do it too.  Also, there are thousands of fatalities that result from distracted driving every single year.

Brothe’s accident happened a year ago, and the 21-year old spent months in the hospital trying to recover.  Bothe had a “broken neck, a crushed face, a fractured skull, and traumatic brain injuries.”

He also died on three separate occasions and had to be brought back to life by doctors. He is going to suffer lifelong ailments as a result of the injuries he sustained during his accident.  He has even had to learn how to speak again.

“My face was broken from my cheekbones all the way up,” Bothe told the New York Daily News.

Bothe is warning other young people to be careful about texting and not to do it while driving.

“I know I died like three times but God didn’t keep me away from coming back here,” he told ABC 13. “I have a higher purpose in being here. And I think it’s to tell everyone not to text message and drive.

“Don’t do it. It’s not worth losing your life,” he told ABC 13.

  3. How amazing he lived through all of this. I hope anyone that reads this will learn from it. I’ve been in my car many a times and almost got hit by someone texting. Personally unless it’s any emergency(and you should park or pull to the side of the road) you shouldn’t even be on the phone!!! And thing else can wait until you get to your destination.
