Technology already makes quite a fashion statement these days with phone covers, laptops, and mp3 players coming in all varieties of colors, prints, and shapes. What could possible top that? Gold-plated phones, laptops, and mp3 players. Heck, the same company that glorifies all of the latter can even gold plate your latest game system and your television. That company is called Computer Choppers.

Alex Wiley, owner of Computer Choppers, spells it out like this. “[Although] we gold plate electronics…we specialize in Apple products [ranging from] iMac desktop systems to iPhones.” In case you are wondering exactly how it is they achieve this eye-catching feat, have no worries. Wiley explains that as well saying, “We take a laptop or a tablet or iPad of some sort, and we’ll strip it down to bare metal. We’ll engrave or personalize it for a customer and then go ahead and plate that with 24 karat gold…platinum…a whole slew of different types of plating. Then, we reassemble that and go ahead and send that out to the customer.”

If you are like the average American, your mind is trying to calculate how much something like that costs and, furthermore, who can afford it. Ironically, that is the problem. If you are the average American, you land in the ten percent region of their clientele. Wiley explains that ninety percent of the clientele of his American-based company is international. As for how much these items cost? Well the pride and joy he is famous for costs $30,000. According to the company website, “Dubbed the ‘Mac Daddy’ in 2007, Alex created the world’s first Gold Macbook Pro laptop.” In addition to the 24 karat gold skin, it features a diamond Apple logo.  If you cannot afford that, perhaps you can go for the $14,500 rose-gold-plated iMac complete with diamond logo. If none of the above fits your budget, and you are still hungry for some bling, perhaps you can investigate how much it would cost to have your television remote plated.
