Here Are 5 Sure Fire Ways to Impress Your Boss
In this economy, pink slips are being handed out like candy on Halloween, and nobody wants to be the employee who is on the
chopping block. The question is, how do you avoid becoming that person? How do you avoid being the next person out the door when it comes time for your company to trim the fat?
To start with, you have to be what Seth Godin calls a lynchpin, which is an indispensable employee, and there are a few sure fire actions you can take to help you get to that point.
- Don’t come to your boss with problems. Instead, come to your boss with solutions. This means that if you discover a problem at your job, don’t just dump that problem on your boss. Before you take it to your boss, craft a few solutions of your own for your boss to choose from. Solve the problem yourself.
- Whenever you have an idea for something your boss should do, take the initiative and do it for him. For example, let’s say you think it would be a good idea for your boss to issue a press release announcing a new product. You should type up the press release, and present it to your boss for approval. By doing this, you’re making life a lot easier for you boss, and at the same time, solidifying a place for yourself within the company.
- Stay current. Your boss shouldn’t have to tell you what business books to read. You should stay current with your own career development.
- Respond to office emails in a timely manner. Even if you’re knee deep in a project, respond by telling the person that you will deal with it as soon as you’re finished with your current project. Be specific, though. Give the person a due date and time so they will know when to follow up.
- If you see something that needs to be done, do it. Don’t worry about whether it falls within the parameters of your job description, just get it done.
What do you think? Do you have anything to add to this list?

Somebody should tell the boss that if he cant pay an employee at leaet $10.00 an hour he should not be in business. those who make the minimum wage should be forced to life on it with thier families. How can anyone live on the minimum wage, no wonder people stealing. These business people are too gready if you ask me the want it all for themselves.$10.00 an hour is cheap, you actually need !5 to say nothing about benefits.Anyone living in America like in England should not have to worry about health treatment when they are sick.

If you want to impress your boss, do what you are paid to do, and do it at a high level…
Do not use the uncle-tom and sambos advice given in this article…
Do not ever do your boss work, as he/she will take credit for it, and you will get pushed out the door…
Remember, you are there for a paycheck, and in return, you must provide a service…anything outside of that, especially if you are Black, will get you booted real quick…
Another way of looking at this article is, “if you are an ass kisser, and do not participating in homosexuality, and any other devious act, then your boos will notice and you will climb the soical and political ladder”…
You do your job, or you can sale your soul…the choice is up to you…

Kevin L. Smith wrote a very fine, easy-reading book about paychecks and profits. It’s entitled, “Do You Want Profits or Paychecks”.
A lot of White folk have read this Black man’s book! A lot of Black folk NEED to read it!
Those who are in the market for jobs need to realize just where their work fits on the profit-and-loss statement. As long as one’s work lands on the profit side, s/he has a job! Nobody can afford to GIVE anybody a job!
The purpose of a job is to help the owner of the business make profits!
