These Jobs Will Get You Earning a Six Figure Salary Pretty Quick
It’s always good to have passion for what you do, but passion doesn’t pay the bills. We go to work to get paid. What most employees usually want in addition to passion is a hefty paycheck.

.
U.S. News & World Report has helped us narrow down jobs which still pay well, even in this economy. All of the jobs listed below pay at least 80k a year, making it easier for you to get to that much celebrated six figure range:
- Web developer – As a rule, web developers aren’t making the money they once did, but a good web developer, one who is able to position a website in a way that coincides with a user’s browsing habits can still pull a good wage. Their average wage is $81, 670
- Computer Systems Analyst - Do you want to monitor a company’s computer systems for a living? It’s not the most exciting job in the world, but it does have an average salary of $82, 320.
- Civil Engineer - Not all top jobs keep you hidden behind a desk. With America’s infrastructure in desperate need of repair, the BLS predicts that this field will steadily increase, and the average wage is $82, 710.
- Veterinarian - Do you oooh and aaawww at kittens, puppies, birds, and even lizards? Then maybe you’re a fit for becoming an animal doctor, a job that pays an average of $82,900 per year.
If you want to start out at the top, then keep in mind that the top jobs haven’t changed much:
- Physicians still earn an average salary of $183, 170
- Dentists earn $142,740
- Lawyers round out the top three at $130,490. Pharmacists, business managers, and financial managers are also near the top of the list.
If you can find something you love to do, then great. If you can find something you love that actually pays, that’s wonderful.

IT (information Technology) jobs are paying very well, from Mid-Level to senior positions expect to make 80k to 100K and above. Even in the greatest depression, the IT field was not hit that hard as compere to other industries. Here is the kicker if you have a secrete clearance expect to earn even higher salary. There are so many jobs in the “IT” field that go unfulfilled because the industry does not have enough qualified people to fill this positions. Another reason that these jobs go unfulfilled is that most of the jobs required a secrete clearance (Security Clearance). To have a Secrete Clearance you have to be a U S citizen. Those that are qualified are not U S citizens and therefore cannot apply for these jobs. I will encourage black parent to encourage their kids to study computer science in school. The feature still looks brighter for this industry as computers kept dominating our world. The good thing about this industry is that you do not always need a 4 year degree; all you need to do is, get yourself certified in your specialty, like Certify Systems Administration, Certify Network administration, etc. etc.
The other side of the IT industry is that, it is dominated by foreign born (mostly from India & China). If you go to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac offices in Northern Virginia you will think you are in India. I sometimes ask myself why the U S relied so much on foreign workers when it comes to information technology, especially when some of these guys are handling very sensitive information.
It reminds me of a book I red titled “Red Mafia (How Russian Mob Has Invaded America)”. In this book one the Mob stars is braking about how it is so easy to still from Americans mainly because Americans (the system) are too trusting.
The down side to the IT field is that, there is no job security in this field (No Unions) especially if you are contracting. You may even get mistreated by fellow workers that are permanent or over worked. Sometimes contractors may work with no benefits at all.

I am a creative professional with writing, marketing and artistic skills (illustrating). I am not that technical and would love to get into web development without spending a lot of money going back to school. I think I could make $$$ and never have to commute again. Suggestions?
