Juice can be good for you if you drink the right kinds and the right amounts. Some juices are good for you because they are full of vitamins, while other juices have the nutritional value of a pixie stick. Being able to identify which juices are good for you and which are not will help you reap the benefits of drinking juice instead of drinking sugar water.
Vegetable juice is the best juice out there for you. Tomato juice may even reduce your risk of getting prostate cancer because of the lycopene in it. Pulpy veggie juices are full of fiber which is good for your diet. Fiber can help you manage your hunger and vegetable juices are full of nutrients. The only thing that you have to be careful about when it comes to drinking vegetable juices is the high sodium in some of them. Opt for a low sodium beverage to get the health benefits without the salt.
If you see a drink out there called a “juice-flavored beverage” or a “juice drink” then steer clear! These products may taste good but the have very little juice that is actually in them. These drinks are typically comprised of sugar or high-fructose corn syrup and are loaded with bad calories.
Pure fruit juices may sound like they are good for you, but many of them are loaded with sugar. Apple juice is a big culprit in this. One glass of apple juice can be equivalent to the amount of sugar in some candy bars.
