This week, the tech world’s eyes are glued on Berlin, where Europe’s largest consumer electronics trade show is kicking off. Inside the massive Messe Berlin convention center, where IFA 2014 is being held, major electronics manufacturers from around the globe are showing off gadgets they hope will one day become household names.

Samsung is already the world’s largest phone maker, and with the debut of its new Android-powered “phablets,” it’s looking to tighten its grasp on that title. Both the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge are noteworthy for their powerful processors and huge HD screens. The Note Edge’s right side even boasts a curved display that can serve as an app tray and notification center. Samsung also revealed the Gear VR, a VR headset that uses the Note 4 in tandem with Oculus VR virtual reality technology.
